The Job Description
The Job Description seems fairly straightforward, but the more detail you provide then the easier it is to find the best match. Make sure that all required skills & abilities are identified as such. Also know what you can pay. Some companies just give a number then say Depends On Experience (DOE). DOE generally means “I Don’t Know, but I want to attract a better candidate than I can afford.”
With the scarcity of candidates and candidates generally having two-to-five interviews pending, this needs to be accomplished as quickly. Candidates have multiple opportunities to find a job. We need to schedule the candidates to see you as quickly as possible.
Make the Selection
Especially with Temp-to-Hire, you will have anywhere from 30-120 days or longer to see if they fit in with your team. Don’t delay a decision waiting for Miss/Mr. Right. Make a decision and move forward.
Here’s what we do for you.
If a candidate is close to your requirements with the resume and interview, then go with the 80% solution. If they are energetic and motivated, then give them the opportunity to prove themselves in the temp-to-hire period.
We advertise the position
We will use multiple Job Boards, including the MaintenanceBest Jobs Board, to advertise the position. Where most companies will post a job to one Jobs Board, we will post in multiple locations and often in multiple cities.
We get statistics on applicants for a particular position by city. One city may have more candidates in a particular field than a neighboring city. So we cast a bigger net to find all possible candidates than a company usually does.
We screen the candidates
Using your Job Description, we will screen the candidates to make sure they meet your requirements. The screening is done through careful screening of the resumes and personal interviews.
Most resumes are junk, particularly from certain Jobs Boards where they are easy to put together, but not very good on quality. By carefully discussing and questioning the candidates skills and abilities, we find out if they meet your requirements.
We train the candidates
Check out our Training page on our webpage. Besides the mandatory OSHA refresher training that we require of every candidate, we offer candidates classes in safety, skill training, and leadership training.
For employers, we can work with you on these classes. If you need a candidate with a particular skill, we can make that a requirement of the position. For example, do you need a Supervisor? We can require the candidate complete our Supervisor’s Training during the temp-to-hire period. Our training has gotten industry praise. But the best part for you is that they complete the training on their time not yours.
We test the candidates
With OSHA’s Temporary Worker Initiative, OSHA requires the host company and the agency be responsible for employee safety. Every agency is supposed to provide training to their employees to be in OSHA compliant. WARNING: Be careful. Not every agency does this.
Every MaintenanceBest candidate completes this training. Every candidate must pass two safety tests to be considered for employment. We even provide a Certificate of Completion in the event you are inspected by OSHA to show the candidates have been trained.
We arrange the interviews
Interviews should be done quickly because other companies are competing for the same candidate. While the host company is trying to find the best fit for their open position, the candidates are trying to find the best job for them.
Many of the candidates are in between jobs. They are looking for a paycheck. They cannot afford to sit around for a week or two while a company agonizes over a choice.
